Hard Drive & Partition Format Recovery in Windows

People sometime find that their files in hard drive or partition were formatted due to hard drive or partition format by mistake, system re-installation or virus attack. This article shows you the cases why your hard drive or partition has been formatted, why you can unformat files, how to perform format recovery under Windows operating system and how to avoid file lose next time.

The cases why your hard drive or partition has been formatted.

Commonly there are five conditions that your hard drive or partition will be formatted:

1, Sometimes, you meet encounter that one of your partitions has not enough space to store files, especially system drive. At this time, if you have no special tool to resize the partition, you have to depend on Windows built-in partition manager to resize them. But this partition manager is not advanced enough to keep your partition intact. And system will automatically format the changed partition, leaving no data.

2, Change your hard disk file system from one to another, from FAT to NTFS for example. As we all know that NTFS is much more advanced than FAT. So more and more people wanna turn their disk file system from FAT to NTFS. But the turning process will lead the changed partition formatted. And after format, all the files will be formatted as well. You will get a completely clean partition with on data.

3, Windows sometimes crashes, or BSOD, and the only way to recover Windows is reinstall it. So people usually choose reinstall Windows operating system. But most computer users may neglect that the Windows re-installation process will format system drive. And most of us have only one partition in whole hard drive. Then if the system installation process format system drive, it means your whole hard drive is formatted. At this time, no matter you have backup (local backup) or not, everything is lost.

4, The most frequently situation of being formatted is USB drive. People always meet “Your USB drive is not formatted” system warning even if you used it a moment ago. And after format that USB drive, data lose.

5, Viruses may also format your partition or hard disk.

Why you can unformat files from formatted hard disk, partition or other storage media

Luckily, no matter how your files is formatted, you still have chance to unformat. If can’t, how FBI recover data from a clean hard drive or even this hard drive is damaged?

No matter you are using Windows, Linux, Unix or other operating systems, data always is saved on storage media, such as hard drive, external hard drive, USB disk, SD card, etc. All of them have one common feature: the format process actually don’t erase data in these storage devices, it just erase the information in partition table (partition table is something to record the information that where the files are stored.) in partition or hard drive. So the truth is your files are still in formatted drive, available for recovery.

However, there is an exception. Format process can be divided into two types: one is quick format, and another one is low-level formatting. Quick format just erases partition table, but low-level formatting will erase all data in hard drive, and there is no way to recover files then. Fortunately, quick format is most frequently used format process by nearly all computer users. Because low-level formatting is only used when the hard drive is the first time use.

How to recover formatted hard drive & partition under Windows?

After checked the upper content, you may already know that format is recoverable. But there is still a question: why you want to recover formatted partition or hard drive? Actually, most computer users just worry about files in formatted partition, the only thing they want is to recover files in it. So we here are talking to the way how you recover files from formatted partition or hard drive.

Tips: in fact, now that partition table is erased, no tool or people can recover your partition or hard drive to original after format. Some software claim that they can recover partition completely. That is a wonderful joke. Don’t trust it.

Do notice one thing: do not write any more new data into the formatted partition or hard drive, because these newly written files may overwrite the original files, and the format recovery success ratio will be greatly reduced.

And there are some tips about the format recovery process:

1, The major file types, such as doc, docx, jpg, gif, txt, can be previewed before recovery. You can make sure the files you selected are the files that you want to recover.
2, If there are too many files listed in recoverable table, you may use “Search” feature to search the specific file names or types.
3, And the whole recovery process is clear and smart, just follow the steps by clicking, you will get your formatted files back.

How to avoid data lose next time?

Although we are doing data recovery service, yet we don’t hope you lose files once and once again. So there are some tips about how to avoid data lose next time. And these tips are helpful no matter format or delete by mistake or other conditions:

1, Make your hard drive have two partitions at least, and save all your important files to non-system partition. Under this condition, even if you reinstalled system, there is no harm to the files that stored in another partition.

2, Do backup your important files into some other storage media, allowing several duplications at the same time. Or even do online backup with some free file syncing software, like DropBox.

Notice: Uniblue Registry Booster can’t solve your computer problems

According to my experience about Uniblue company, its key product Registry Booster can’t solve most of computer problems. It is just a registry cleaner and booster, instead of Windows problem fix tool.

Maybe they will say that if your registry keeps clean, then your computer will meet no problem. That is really rediculous. Though some junk registry data may cause system problem, yet the computer problems mostly comes from software BUGs, system temp errors, software conflicts, unexpected memory leaks, etc. All these problems can’t be fixed by Uniblue Registry Booster.

I once registered as Uniblue Registry Booster, 3 in 5 will ask refund after purchase. This charge back ratio is really high in software field. The highest charge back ratio in software field is 3% for partition table problem fix. And Registry booster reaches 60% charge back ratio. This is so incredible.

And I noticed that Uniblue has two other sites, liutilities.com and processlibrary.com. These two sites collected all kinds of exe and dll processes, saying if you meet exe or dll processes errors, you may use Registry Booster to fix them. But the truth is you can never fix exe or dll file errors or virus at all by Uniblue Registry Booster. These two websites use SEO and scare skills to promote the software. This is extremely bad for a company like that. And if it can fix, why not use some free registry cleaners like CCleaner and IObit Advanced SystemCare?

So finally, do not purchase any product of Uniblue. I hope more people will know it. It is a bad company.

Trojan

Trojan is a kind of virus without self-duplication feature. It will pretend to be a useful application or love computer game, attracting users to install it on PC or server computers.

Trojan Horse, Trojan in short form, and virus is a kinds of application or software that developing by human bings, belonging to computer virus. The name of Trojan comes from the Greek Mythology “Helen of Troy”. It’s the time about when the old Greek army was attacking Trojan city, but they can’t defeat. So someone used a stratagem: making a big horse, pretending it as horse of warlord, and asking the soldiers hidden in that big horse. And after that, the amry pretended as withdraw, leaving big horse alone. The people in the city considered that the Geek army was real withdraw, dragging the big horse into the city, and celebrating the victory. But in the midnight, when all the citizens came into sleep, the soldiers got out of big horse and open the gate of city. After a big fight, Geek army got the whole city.

Trojan is builtup with two parts: 1, server application; 2, client application. If you suffered Trojan, that means you got Client Application of Trojan. And the man who owns server application, he could control your computer through Internet or local network to do anything he want. And at this time, all the files, applications and accounts on your computer are naked to him.

Trojan, in fact, can’t be considered as virus. It won’t sefl-duplicate like virus, and it won’t make system crash. So some people call Trojan as Hacker Virus.

It is a kind of remote control hack tool, with crypticity and unauthorization to fast affect system files.

The crypticity means: for being detected by computer users, the Trojan vendors will use many ways to hide the Trojan, so that even if users know that they have suffered Trojan, but they can’t locate the place of it.

And Unauthorization means once the client application connects server application, server application will share almose all operation rights of that computer, including modify files, edit registry, control mouse and keyboard, etc. And these rights are not authorized by computer, but stolen by Trojan.

So if you found that your computer suddenly turn slow or lag, there is big possibility that you have already suffered Trojan or virus. Just check the article about Windows 8 Antivirus, the software that mentioned in this article will give you a free solution to clean Trojan and virus under Windows 8 or other Windows systems.

Windows 8 Drivers Download

To download Windows 8 drives, you should firstly know what brand of your computer is. This article guides you update hardware drivers for your newly installed Windows 8.

Windows 8 is newly published not long ago, people installed Windows 8 for pre-test how it is. And after installed Windows 8, they found that their Windows 8 has no sound or can’t configure screen resolution. That’s because the sound driver or video card driver isn’t fit for Windows 8 system. If you are still using the drivers for Windows 7, some of them can’t work, or even if succeed, they are extremely unstable, causing problems in the near future.

So what I recommend it to install the Windows 8 Drivers for each hardware deviced.

However, people may don’t know where the Windows 8 drivers are for their own computers. For their computers are bought when there was no Windows 8, and the driver disk contains hardware drivers for Windows 7 upmost. So Check the following steps to download and install Windows 8 drivers.

1, check out the brand name of your computer.

2, go to the official site of your brand. For example, if your laptop is Dell, then go to www.dell.com.

3, there are quite a lot models in your brand, and find your brand model. For exmaple, Dell Inspiron 4200, or something like that.

4, get the driver download page for your brand model, try to see if there is Windows 8 driver for this model. If they exist, then download Windows 8 drivers package, and install them all. Remember, if you are using Windows 64 bit system, you must download 64 bit Windows 8 drivers.

Notice: due to the situation that Windows 8 is just published, so maybe the Windows 8 drivers don’t exist for your brand model, so you have to wait for their come. That’s exactly why I don’t recommend you to install Windows 8 immediately when Windows 8 come out.

And if you are not using the brand computer, DIYed it by yourself. You can go and search a driver update software in Google. This kind of software helps you to identify the latest drivers for your hardware devices. And once it detects a newer version of drivers, it will tell you and you can download and install newer drivers, and see if it works in Windows 8.

At last, again, I don’t recommend you to install Windows 8 immediately when Windows 8 is published. The only reason I said just now, if there is no proper Windows 8 drivers for you to download and install, then wait for their publication.
